If you are interested in learning exactly how to generate power and reduce your bill then this is the perfect resource for you! With the ever increasing costs of living, there is no better time than right now to stop throwing money out the window and start generating our own electricity.

Over the last few years I have figured out how to significantly reduce the cost of solar panels making it more affordable for the average home owner just like you.

Now you can build a single panel or a complete array of panels to power your home for a fraction of retail cost.

I’m going to be your “solar mentor” and show you step-by-step how to make a solar panel. I’ll also teach you my other secrets to renewable energy in an easy to follow format.

Did you know? A basic solar installation from a retailer can take 30 years to pay back and cost you well over $20,000?

This is simply too much for many to afford and the pay back time is far too long. This prompted me to do some research into how the solar panels are created and how I could make them myself.

I soon realized it was possible to make solar panels for MUCH cheaper than retail price, saving me thousands. Moreover, it was actually easier than I thought!

That’s when I decided to develop this guide with my close friend Mark (A solar nut!).

Look here at what Mark and I have put together for you >>

Here are ten benefits of Solar Energy:

1. Solar energy is renewable. We never have to worry about running out of sunlight or using it all up. The sun is a consistent power source meaning it’s always going to be there every day.

2. Solar energy is environmentally friendly. Compared to fossil fuels which release greenhouses gases, carcinogens and carbon dioxide, solar cells don’t release anything into the air.

3. Solar panels are extremely reliable. There are no moving parts so you don’t have to worry about replacing anything. In fact, most people generate electricity for 1000s of hours with little or no maintenance.

4. Solar cells make no noise while collecting energy. There are no other renewable energy sources that are completely silent.

5. In the long run, solar electricity is cheaper than buying it from the power company. There is a start up cost, but then it starts paying for itself. Once you break even, everything after that is profit. Compare this to paying a monthly bill and getting no return on investment.

6. There is a huge variety of solar panel systems available. Some can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and some cost just a couple hundred. This means anyone can get into solar, there’s an entry point for just about everybody.

7. You’re not required to connect to the power grid. You can be completely self-sufficient and live off-the-grid. Imagine never paying another monthly bill or hook-up charge.

8. Sell excess electricity. If you build a large enough solar panel system, you can make your electric meter spin backwards! Most power companies will gladly buy or credit you for this excess electricity. Contact your local power companies for more details.

9. Government tax credits. Most governments will provide some kind of tax credit or incentive for people purchasing solar energy systems. On average, rebates usually cover 20-30% of the system cost. Contact your local representatives for more details.

10. Solar technology is constantly improving. Solar installations are increasing by an incredible 50% every year, most of which are small homemade systems. Learn how to make your own solar panels and use the benefits of solar energy to your advantage.

Many of us know that solar energy is a good thing, but few really understand why. Therefore, I compiled a comprehensive list of solar energy advantages and disadvantages that will enable you to make an educated decision whether on not Solar Power is right for YOU.

Solar Energy Advantages

1. Saves you money

After the initial investment has been recovered, the energy from the sun is practically FREE.
The recovery/ payback period for this investment can be very short depending on how much electricity your household uses.
Financial incentives are available form the government that will reduce your cost.
If your system produce more energy than you use, your utility company can buy it from you, building up a credit on your account! This is called net metering.
It will save you money on your electricity bill if you have one at all.
Solar energy does not require any fuel.
It’s not affected by the supply and demand of fuel and is therefore not subjected to the ever-increasing price of gasoline.
The savings are immediate and for many years to come.
The use of solar energy indirectly reduces health costs.

2. Environmentally friendly

Solar Energy is clean, renewable (unlike gas, oil and coal) and sustainable, helping to protect our environment.
It does not pollute our air by releasing carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide or mercury into the atmosphere like many traditional forms of electrical generations does.
Therefore Solar Energy does not contribute to global warming, acid rain or smog.
It actively contributes to the decrease of harmful green house gas emissions.
It’s generated where it is needed.
By not using any fuel, Solar Energy does not contribute to the cost and problems of the recovery and transportation of fuel or the storage of radioactive waste.

3. Independent/ semi-independent

Solar Energy can be utilized to offset utility-supplied energy consumption. It does not only reduce your electricity bill, but will also continue to supply your home/ business with electricity in the event of a power outage.
A Solar Energy system can operate entirely independent, not requiring a connection to a power or gas grid at all. Systems can therefore be installed in remote locations (like holiday log cabins), making it more practical and cost-effective than the supply of utility electricity to a new site.
The use of Solar Energy reduces our dependence on foreign and/or centralized sources of energy, influenced by natural disasters or international events and so contributes to a sustainable future.
Solar Energy supports local job and wealth creation, fuelling local economies.

4. Low/ no maintenance

Solar Energy systems are virtually maintenance free and will last for decades.
Once installed, there are no recurring costs.
They operate silently, have no moving parts, do not release offensive smells and do not require you to add any fuel.
More solar panels can easily be added in the future when your family’s needs grow.

Solar Energy Disadvantages

The initial cost is the main disadvantage of installing a solar energy system, largely because of the high cost of the semi-conducting materials used in building one.
The cost of solar energy is also high compared to non-renewable utility-supplied electricity. As energy shortages are becoming more common, solar energy is becoming more price-competitive.
Solar panels require quite a large area for installation to achieve a good level of efficiency.
The efficiency of the system also relies on the location of the sun, although this problem can be overcome with the installation of certain components.
The production of solar energy is influenced by the presence of clouds or pollution in the air.
Similarly, no solar energy will be produced during nighttime although a battery backup system and/or net metering will solve this problem. See dsireusa.org for details on how net metering allows you to save electricity and money.
As far as solar powered cars go – their slower speed might not appeal to everyone caught up in today’s rat race.

Sprayed Foam home insulation product is a foam based insulation product that is applied to insulating cavity walls, floors or roofs. As this insulation product is sprayed to the openings in the area, it expands to create the insulation barrier. This foam insulation material is a chemical insulation product being made of polyurethane. The polyurethane comprises a chemical formulation of multi-ingredient chemicals. Apart from this main multi-ingredient chemical composition, sprayed foam insulation also contains other additives like fire retardants as well as colours too, often.

Apart from providing home insulation, spray foam based insulation materials are good air sealing. The air sealing treatment can be applied to several places of the house where small openings allow air passing such as cavities in the wall, cavities in the ceilings. The foam product can be sprayed using a special equipment to the targeted holes in the walls or ceilings. On spraying, the chemical formulation swells to cover up all the corners and crannies in the area. While application, the spare materials must be scraped off the wall pr other spaces to form uniform cavity insulation and ensure an effective air sealing guard to prevent air and heat conduct.

Advantages of Spray Foam Home Insulation
There are several advantages of sprayed foam home insulation materials. First of all, sprayed foam home insulation is an easy to apply insulation option that fills up the targeted nooks in the walls completely providing it air sealing protection to stop further air passing. This insulation material is known to reduce air infiltration and air circulation that allows heat transfer through gaps in the walls. The sprayed foam insulation also acts as a vapor barrier. However, the installer must consult with the local building department whether the building needs a vapor barrier. As the foam materials expand well in the tight areas, it makes a good insulation for steel framing outlets or forming insulation around outlets.

Apart from polyurethane chemical composition, the spray foam home insulation products can be combined with other insulation materials such as fiberglass batt in order to reduce cost. The layer of foam based insulation mixed with other materials performs better air sealing thus turning the home more energy smart within lesser budget. Some home insulation contractors use this foam product as a 1″ inch layer of closed cell foam and then tops the layer with fibreglass batt insulation for increasing performance of the insulation.

Have you ever thought extensively about the manifold potential benefits of wind energy? In general, not much thought has hitherto been put on harnessing wind energy for domestic purposes, like generating electricity at residence. The sole concern of people was to adapt themselves to the pleasantry or the hazards of the different types of wind flows. Indeed, this was about all that mattered about wind in everyday life of people.

However, wind energy had one attractive feature that scored over other sources – it was abundant and renewable. Hence, it started to grow in popularity when the oil prices started to rise rapidly. People realized that, in the foreseeable feature, the need for an alternative, and preferably cheaper, source of energy would crop up. Hence, harnessing wind energy started to grow in importance. Automobile alternators were combined with radiator coolers on an experimental basis. This was done to generate 12 volt DC power that would then be stored in storage batteries (of 120 volts) that were automotive. However, the power generated was low, and hiking it up to 120 volt AC current was almost impossible. Thus, these experiments met with a premature end.

Business concerns however, did not remain inactive in the interim. With the purpose of a significant reduction in the electricity expenses, a large number of mini generators and turbines hit the market by the end of 2007. All these devices could be run on wind power. In case sufficient wind can be acquired, and utility grids are used, power bills could indeed be cut down substantially. Led on by their ever-inquisitive nature, men decided to develop these turbines in order to harness wind power for producing electricity for residential purposes. The potential benefits of such tapping of home wind power were indeed manifold.

However, the desired success rates were not attained by many of these projects. Wind turbines, by nature, made irritating noises while working – something which neighbors of those who were using the former found disturbing. Complaints were thus made against the usage of such turbines were made to local authorities. The latter too had no other option than prohibiting the installation of these turbines, in case such cases of mechanical disturbance were put to it. In addition, the wind power, in many cases, was not as strong as expected. At times, it even failed to turn the turbine blades. The effects of these failed attempts were felt by the people, who tried to sell off these electrical items. Faced with heavy debts, the turbines, inverters that were to be used for transforming the DC power to 12 volt AC current, and other related accessories were all made available for sale. However, buyers of such stuff were scarce.

These failed attempts to harness wind power were not all in vain, though. Several valuable guidelines could be found from these experiments. Some such pointers were:

a. City areas have a lot of tall buildings and high rises and this block out the smooth passage of wind. Hence, home wind power systems are unlikely to be successful here,

b. The ecological balance of urban areas is adversely affected by the wind turbines. Hence, harnessing wind power by these methods were not correct for city areas,

c. Solar power electricity generators should accompany the home wind power turbines, for the best results. The solar power systems could function well all through the say. At night, the blades of the turbine could be made to rotate easily,

d. Home wind power turbines should ideally be placed at high altitudes, so that they could easily capture the smooth flow of wind. Wind turbines at remote places work well too, due to precisely the same reason.

e. At places where there are no sources of utility power, home wind turbines are wifely recommended for usage,

f. Home wind turbines were simply small scale versions of large wind energy firms. The components were all the same in both cases: be it the turbines, the torque controllers, the batteries that ensure continuous power supply, the required elevation for proper set up, as well as the inverter that converted the current produced to 120 volt AC power. Hence, the problems faced by home turbines and larger firms were, in essence, the same too.

You can easily set up your wind power system at your home. However, that should be done only after getting adequate information regarding how to set up the system, and the best place to do so – and you can learn this from a manual. The manual consulted should also have detailed information regarding the wiring processes, the availability of free batteries and other related accessories at affordable prices. The necessary safety requirements should also be listed here. Once such information is at hand, you can go ahead and install the home wind power system.
